Hugh was adopted by his Aunt Sarah (Cass) Austin and her husband Edwin E Austin. Hugh was officially adopted and his name was changed to Austin. So biologically her father's name was Hugh Cass Allen. Austin, the person adopting the said minor, Hugh C Allen to publish a notice of said adoption for three weeks successively, in the Vermont Standard, a newspaper printed at Woodstock in said District, May 1870) which circulates therein.
