A funeral for Claude Charles Ferris, a retired railroad conductor, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Milwaukie Elks Club. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery.
Mr. Ferris died of respiratory failure Thursday, January 9, in his Southeast Portland home at the age of 72.
He was born April 20, 1919, in Austin, Minn. He had lived in the Portland area for more than 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Myra Wells on March 25, 1943, in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Ferris worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for a number of years until his retirement in 1979.
Survivors besides his wife include his daughters, Karen Martin of Gresham and Claudette Schutz of Sandy; sons, Leroy of Molalla and Leslie, Myron and Claude C. Jr., all of Portland; mother, Milla Rouse of Canada; sister, Ruby Ross of Canada; brothers, William Rouse, Fred Rouse and James Rouse, all of Canada; and six grandsons.The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Elks Eye Clinic.
