Gene Higgins, 81, of Fort Smith, went to be with Our Lord on January 19, 2011 in Fort Smith.
He was born November 22, 1929 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Cora and Jack Higgins.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant for 2 years and was in the Reserves for 14 years. He was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nadine Higgins of Fort Smith; his two children, Karen Reynolds of Bentonville and Mike Higgins of Rudy; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services were held at 10 AM, Monday, January 24 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with Rev. Kim Cloninger officiating. Burial was at Fort Smith National Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers were Rock Reynolds, Matt Reynolds, Jason Moore, Bill Reynolds, Jeff Rapier and Stu Rapier.
