On the morning of Thursday Jan 23 2008, well known Canton Resident Franklin Delano Fulkrod died unexpectedly while on the job. He was 74 years of age. Born in Mifflin township, he was the son of Charles D Harman & Cleda Fulkrod. He and his wife Mary were married on Apr. 13 1984. Frank was a man well acquainted with hard work. He was not afraid to try his hand at just about any form of manual labor. He was a familiar figure to many local farmers who knew him to be a very dependable helper. Along with Mary, Frank was well known to the Canton residents for their diligent snow removal from businesses and churches, as well as their lawn care services throughout the town. In his spare time Frank was an avid fisherman, and had a knack for knowing all the best places to cast a line. At other times he would hold court in front of his home engaging in conversation with all who passed by. Part homespun philosopher part good ole boy, Frank added a certain ambiance to the Canton Community which will be greatly missed. Frank is survived by his wife Mary, son J B Fulkrod, stepchildren Charlotte Root, Georgia Ward, granddaughters Hannah and Emily Sue Ward, sisters June Fulkrod and Phyllis Watkins, sisters-in-law Arlene Ward, Irene Wood and Dorothy Carter, Uncles Joe and Dick Fulkrod. He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond "Ted" Harmon of Rebersburg Pa. Interment in the Beech Flats Cemetery.
