Chester was born Oct. 23, 1916 in Monroe, Wis., the son of Wrennie and Anna (Vollman) Riese. He married Florence I. Deal June 29, 1937 in Morrison, Ill. She died Aug. 21, 1997.
He had been employed at the Beloit Corp. for more than 20 years and had also farmed in the Juda area more than 20 years. He was a former member of the Beloit Moose Lodge and the Beloit Eagles Club. He was an avid card player and Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his five children, LaVerne (Janet) Riese, Brodhead, Wis., Donna (Don) George, Janesville, Wis., Duane (Jackie) Riese, Sandra (Ray) Betley, and Dick (Norma) Riese, all of Beloit; 19 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin Riese, Monroe, Wis., Elmer Riese in California, and Roger Riese, Janesville, Wis.; three sisters, Alice Wolfe, Helen Rufer, and Mary Coplien, all of Monroe, Wis.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Forence; his parents; three brothers; a granddaughter, and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 1999, in the Schoenfeld Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, Wis., with Rev. Ian Stirrat officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Support Group of Rock County or Beloit Regional Hospice.
