Howards Grove – Henry Kammann Jr. Of Idaho and Mrs. Geo. Wehrmann of Baxter, Iowa, arrived here last week, being called here by the serious illness of their father, Henry Kammann Sr., who died Monday night at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boerger, where Mr. Kammann has made his home.

The deceased was born in Hannover, Germany, Nov. 10, 1833, reaching an age of almost 85 years. He came to America in 1854, was married May 23, 1858, and immediately settled on a large farm in the town of Meeme, near Edwards, today the homestead of Wm. Kammann. He conducted this farm until about 30 years ago; since that time he had lived with his children on the homestead or on the Boerger farm. His wife preceded him in death 40 years ago, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Stolzmann of Marshalltown, Iowa, died a year ago.

Seven children were born in the family, two sons, and five daughters. The six surviving children are; William on the old homestead, Henry of Wendell, Idaho, Mrs. Geo Wehrmann of Baxter, Iowa, Mrs. Wm. C. Siemers and Mrs. Wm. C. Boerger of the town of Herman, and Mrs. Guido Klemme of the town of Sheboygan Falls. Thirty-three grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren also survived him.

The funeral takes place Friday afternoon at two o’clock, with interment in the Schwarzwald cemetery; Rev. Helm will officiate.
