Henry Hoppe, 81, of the Town of Meeme died early today at his R. 1,
Cleveland home.
Born Nov. 5, 1889 in Reinwald, Russia, he was a son of the late Christian and Helena Hoppe. He came to the United States when 18 and located in theTown of Herman.
On May 14, 1921, he married the former Jennie Schreiber of Meeme at St. John United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald.
The couple located in Meeme and Mr. Hoppe was employed by Fred Ehnert in Kiel. Since 1947 the couple operated a small farm in Meeme.
He was a member of St. John-UCC, Schwartzwald, and taught Sunday School for 12 years.
Survivors are his wife: a son of Howards Grove-Millersville, and two grand-children.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John UCC, the Rev. Dean Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, from 4 p.m. Friday until 11 a.m. Saturday and at the church from noon until the hour of services.A memorial for the church has been established in Mr. Hoppe’s name.

Marriage of Henry Hoppe & Jennie Schrieber
Meeme District No. 1:
Miss Jennie Schreiber and Henry Hoppe were united in the holy bonds of matrimony
at 2:30 on Saturday at St. John's Evangelical church at Schwarzwald, Rev. Mohme
officiating. The bride and bridesmaids were most beautifully attired in navy blue
suits and carried bouquets of white and pink carnations. The bridesmaids were
Misses Anna Schreiber and Anna Mauer. The attendants of the groom were Messrs.
Henry Steinpreis and Roland Schreiber. A sumptuous wedding dinner was served at
the home of the bride for the immediate relatives. The rooms were artistically
decorated in a color scheme of white and pink. The popularity of the bride and
groom was shown by the large host of friends that assembled at the home in the
evening to charivarie the young couple. The best wishes of their many friends go
with them through their life journey.
