A Howards Grove-Millersville man, Harold Braun, 52, is Sheboygan County's 19th highway traffic victim in 1967. Mr. Braun, a machine shop employe of General Machinery Corp. in Sheboygan for about 2 ½ years, died late Saturday night in Sheboygan Memorial Hospital from chest and other injuries sustained in a two-car crash at State Highway 42 and Playbird Road, some two miles northwest of Sheboygan, late Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff's men said the Braun auto, southbound on State 42, ran into the rear of a car driven by Mrs. Paul Ertel, 39, who lives just north of Ada. Mrs. Ertel had stopped ahead, intending to make a left turn into Playbird Road, the dividing line between the Town of Sheboygan and Mosel. She said today she was treated at Memorial Hospital for a whiplash injury and shock, and released Friday. Both drivers were alone in their cars.
Mr. Braun, a native of the Town of Herman, was born July 17, 1915, a son of the late Frederick Braun and Mrs. Katherine Braun Altschwager. He attended rural school and Howards Grove High School. He married Evelyn Voigt of Kiel, May 29, 1940. Following marriage the couple lived at Howards Grove where he entered the insurance business. He had been with the local Machinery Corp. since February, 1965. Mr. Braun was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Schwartzwald (Town of Herman), Howards Grove Athletic Club, Howards Fire Department and Sheboygan County Deputy Sheriffs Association.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Dennis, Sheboygan; a grandchild; his mother, Mrs. Altenschwager, Sheboygan, and a sister, Mrs. LaVerne Rhode, Howards Grove. He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather.
