Mrs. Hattie Bertschy, 81, formerly of 3713 Main Ave., Sheboygan, died Tuesday evening in St. Nicholas Hospital.
Born Dec. 5, 1895, she was the daughter of Carl and Augusta Schumacher.
On April 2, 1916, she married Arthur Bertschy in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. After marriage they farmed in the Town of Meeme, moving to Sheboygan in 1947.
For a time she was employed at St. Nicholas Hospital.
The couple observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1966.
For the past year Mrs. Bertschy resided at Sunny Ridge.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ at Schwartzald and its Women's Guild.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Milton (LuVerne) Damrow of Sheboygan and Mrs. Melvin (Bernice) Henrickson of Bremerton, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Ziemke of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Alvina Dassow of Sunny Ridge.
She was preceded by her husband, an infant child, two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John UCC, Schwartzwald, with the Rev. Dean Roy Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Walter H. Ahrens Funeral Home, Howards Grove, after 4 p.m., Thursday, until 11 a.m. Friday, and at the church from noon until time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Mrs. Bertschy's name for St. John UCC.
