Virginia Cooper of Guntersville died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015. She was 86.

She was the daughter of Oscar and Esther Glass, growing up in Sardis, Douglas and Guntersville.

She worked as housekeeper at a hospital and the old Ranch House hotel. She also worked at Huddle House in Guntersville. She retired from Marshall North hospital.

She was a member of “The River” Church of God, formerly Guntersville Church of God, for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her son, Danny O’Neal Cooper (Pamela) of Horton; her daughter, Charlotte Murphey (Rodney) of Oneonta; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis “Dan” Cooper; her second husband, Rev. Willie Cook; 2 sons, Billy Wayne Cooper and Terry Eugene Cooper, and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Cooper was the last living of 9 siblings.

The funeral was Wednesday at The River Church of God with Bro. Phillip Cody, Bro. Wendell Hudspeth and Bro. H.E. LaFevor officiating.

Mrs. Cooper was buried at Mount View Cemetery in Union Grove with Carr Funeral Home directing.
