Capt Ferrell arrived in Vietnam 29 December 1969 and was assigned to 57th AHC, 52nd Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade, USARV. His helicopter was hit by hostile fire causing it to crash and burn.
Survived by his wife, Mary E Ferrell of El Paso, Texas, and his parents; Raymond E and Sarah Ferrell and his brothers; Glenn, Gene, Michael, William H and Herman A Ferrell, all of Wilson, North Carolina.
