SAUCIER -- Mrs. Karen Ann Grigsby Herbert, 46, a resident of Saucier, died Friday, March 13, 1998, in New Orleans.

Mrs. Herbert, a native of New Orleans, was a resident of Hattiesburg prior to moving to Gulfport in 1973. She had been employed with St. John High School since 1973, and was social studies chairperson, then library media specialist. She sponsored the Drama Club, Quiz Bowl Team, Mock Trial Team, and academic awards, and was senior class sponsor. Mrs. Herbert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport, where she was a eucharist and lecturer.

Mrs. Herbert was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lavelle and Miriam Connaughton Grigsby.

Survivors include her husband, William Joseph ''Bill'' Herbert Jr.; a son, William Joseph ''Billy'' Herbert III, both of Saucier; a brother, James M. Grigsby of Baton Rouge, La.; and a sister, Robin G. Blackmon of Gulfport.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with a Vigil Service at 8 p.m. The celebration of the Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, followed by burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport. Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.

The family prefers memorials to the Leukemia Society of America, Mississippi Chapter, P.O. Box 12598, Jackson, MS 39236-2598.
