STONE INFO COPIED BY RICHARD HOWELL, ETAL, OCT 1981."THE CANNON BOOK", BY CLARENCE CANNON, INDICATES THAT HE WAS MARRIED 3 TIMES. #1: CYNTHIA ANN WOMBLE (FEB 28, 1855) DAUGHTER OF HENRY AND ELIZABETH (EVANS) WOMBLE, #2: LUCINDA JANE NICHOLS (JULY 19, 1874) WIDOW OF JESSE NICHOLS, AND #3: NANCY (NANNIE) CLEMMY (NEE) HISEY WILLIAMS. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE "MAJOR BARTLETT POST NO. 289, OF THE GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC.
The following has been added on a suggestion made by MARIE REYNOLDS, #28230229. (Added, April 02, 2015 by Richard Howell): "TROY FREE PRESS, Lincoln County, Missouri, October 8, 1897" D. H. CANNON of the Hawk Point vicinity died Wednesday night of pneumonia, after an illness of only five days. He was an old citizen of that section, and a gentleman of more than usual intelligence".
Added April 24 2016 by Richard D Howell, Requested by MARIE REYNOLDS, #28230229. FROM THE TROY FREE PRESS, October 15, 1897. "He of Nineveh Township. Died at his home 4 miles North of Hawk Point October 6, 1897. Buried at the Cannon burying ground on the Jake Mosely place. SQUIRE CANNON as he was usually called, Was a Good Citizen. At times served his neighborhood as justice, road overseer, school clerk, and was a Notary Public at the time of his death. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War, reaching the rank of lieutenant. His last wife and seven children survive him."
