Isaac III was the son of Isaac II and Beulah Harmon. A soldier in the French war of Colonial times, he was a patriot of the Revolution. He witnessed the surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.

He was a successful school teacher in his early manhood. During 1807 he sold his property at West Springfield, Mass., and moved with his family to Athens township, settling at Morley's Mills. He arrived in October, having been 16 days in making the journey.

He married Celestia Spaulding in 1813 and they had 10 children they named: Isaac, Annie, Abraham, Simon, Nancy, Huldah, Reuben, Seth, Celestia and Job Morley.

Issac and Celestia occupied the Spaulding homestead. By the end of his long life he was the owner of some valuable property.
