In 1840 he lived with his parents and four siblings on a farm in Pike Township, Coshocton County, OH.

In 1850 he lived with his parents and eight siblings there on the farm. Also living with them was his paternal grandmother.

In 1860 he lived with his parents and nine siblings, plus Alexander's first wife, there on the farm.

In 1870 he and his wife and their two daughters lived on a farm in Perry Township in the same county.

In 1880 he and Martha and their four children lived there.

In 1900 just he and his wife lived there.

In 1910 he and his second wife Rose, age 73, lived in a house they owned, mortgage free, on Wells Avenue in Utica, OH. His occupation was landlord--he rented houses. This was Rose's third marriage, and she had not had any children.

In 1920 he lived with his youngest son and his wife in a house they owned, with a mortgage, at 220 West Main Street in Newark, OH. Wheeler worked as a tire builder in a rubber factory.
