Sigmund S. Romanowski, 87, of Belvidere, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 in his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 22, 1923 to the parents of Joseph and Veronica (Klisiewicz) Romanowski. Sigmund has lived in Belvidere for the past six years, moving here from Addison, Illinois. He was married to Marie E. Biehl in Chicago on September 4, 1954. Sigmund worked for Amphenol Company and Bunker-Ramo Company in maintainence. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. Sigmund was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Addison, Illinois and member St. James Catholic Church, Belvidere. He was a former member of AmVets and the V.F.W. Sigmund enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering, inventing things, building birdhouses and reading history. He is survived by his three daughters, Barbara (Michael) Hochgesang, Saint Charles, Illinois; Rose (James) Bastien, Belvidere, Illinois; Elaine (Larry) Maier of Las Vegas, Nevada; seven grandchildren, Erin (Dan) Wash, Lindsey (James) Redmon, Michelle (Lucrecio) Gonzalez, Shawn Bastien, Joel Bastien, Joseph Maier and Alexander Maier; four great-grandchildren, D'Marco, Ceaser, Xzavier Gonzalez and Benjamin Wash. Sigmund is preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2007, two sisters, Harriet and Florence and a brother, Frank.
