Frederick Sanders Emert was the second oldest of the 10 (?) children born to Philip Emert and Elizabeth Reagan. His father died when Frederick was about 11, and his mother before he was 30. Both his grandfathers, Frederick Emert and Timothy Reagan, fought in the Revolutionary War, and then were early settlers in Sevier County, TN.

Frederick marries Malinda D. Maxwell 8 Jun 1829 in Sevier County, TN. The couple is living with his widowed mother Elizabeth on the 1830 census. By 1831 Frederick has a land grant of 100 acres on the Big East Fork of the Little Pigeon River.

Frederick was the architect/builder for the 1848 Trotter-McMahan House for his brother-in-law Dr. William Trotter. They traveled together to Georgia for design ideas. The house is still in existence and on the National Historic Register. Frederick was also a justice of the peace for Sevier County.

Frederick and Malinda's children were James Daniel, Philip Seaton, Sarah Elizabeth (marries Tillman Robertson), and Robert Reagan. Their two oldest sons fight for the Union in the Civil War, with son Philip dying in the war.

Frederick leaves a will dated 24 Feb 1869 that is probated 7 Jun 1869. His will mentions wife Malinda D. Emert, sons Robert R Emert and James D Emert, daughter Sarah (no last name listed in the will, but she was married to Robertson), and children of [dec'd] son Phillip S. Emert. He leaves his widow a life estate, 50 acres to one son, plus another approx 50 acres to be sold and divided.
