Her parents were Job and Mary Ann (Horn) Wheaton and she grew up in a rural farmhouse on Osamequin Farm, Wampanoag Trail, Barrington, RI. The house has since been torn down and a nature trail/park is in its place. Capt. William Frances Seymour would come to court her in a black cloak lined in red, astride his horse and galloping up the dirt road to her home...."they" say it was quite a site. The Capt. & Mary later married.
She was on a ship, captained by her husband, in China when they conceived twins: Jennie Louise and Maria Wheaton. Jennie is my great-grandmother. Mary Ann was an invalid and died of Myelitis, her daughters were 17 years at that time and they went to their Aunt Juliette Peck Seymour to live until they were married.
