John's obituary appeared in Valley Morning Star, Harlingen on Dec 5, 1984: John C. Lamon, 89, died Monday in a local nursing home. He was born in Oakwood and had lived in Combes for 60 years. Mr. Lamon was a farmer. He was a member and a Deacon of the Combes Baptist Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna A. Lamon of Combes, two sons, Walter G. Lamon and Raymond Lamon, both of Combes; two daughters, Mrs. Dora Roland of La Feria and Mrs. Lorna Magee of Harlingen; a brother, Charles Lamon of Harlingen; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be today at 10 a.m. in Combes Cemetery with teh Rev. Eddy Moser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
