The daughter of William Wallace Kerrigan who was one time manager of Universal Studios, Virginia was reportedly the first child born on the Universal City lot. Rudolph Valentino, a friend of the Kerrigan family, loved little Virginia and would often go the Kerrigan residence at 2050 Ivar Avenue in the Hollywood Hills to visit. The day after Christmas Kerrigan was showing off her new dress to family and friends when she brushed up against a heater and the dress caught fire. She received severe burns to much of her body and died at the Hollywood Community Hospital from her injuries. Her funeral was held at the home of her uncle J. Warren Kerrigan, 2307 Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood the site is now covered by apartment buildings.
