Dora attended Canadian Public Schools. She married William "Dutch" J. Bryan Hancock in 1930. Following her husband's death in 1955, she worked as a cook in many of the area restaurants and was the sole provider for her eight children. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include her sons, Phillip Hancock and wife, Phyllis, of Oklahoma City, David Hancock and wife, Judy, of McAlester and Bill Hancock, of McAlester; daughters, Pat Burke, of McAlester and Janey Brown, of Tyler, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dutch Hancock; parents, George and Nancy Aaron; sons, James Michael Hancock and Jan E. Hancock, and daughter, Louise Shackleford. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, McAlester, with Charles K. Lock and Bishop Jody Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, McAlester, under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers include Charles K. Loch, Ed Whimple, Elder Sherrick, Elder Hanselman, Steve Hammontree and William Murdaugh.
