Johanna Florentine Bruening Carl was born at Pinckney, MO, August 29 1859, the daughter of Charles and Florentine Bruening. Mrs. Carl resided at Berger for more than 60 years on the family farm. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church and was an active worker for the church. She had a wide acquaintance and many friends who deeply deplore her death.
She is survived by her husband and six children, namely: Mrs. Dena Kemper of St. Louis, Mrs Oscar J. Meyer (Julia), Mrs. Alvin Rohlfing (Daolia) and Miss Elsia Carl all of Berger, Mrs. William Opfer (Hulda) of Higginsville and Ferdinand Carl of Berger. She also leave two brothers, William Bruening of Berger and Fritz Bruening of Higginsville, one sister Mrs. Henry Rinne of Higginsville and 17 grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted November 22 by Rev Karl Kissling at the St. John's Evangelical Church and interment was in the St. John's cemetery.
