McGINNIS
Nora McGinnis was born Oct. 7, 1873 and died Sept. 30, 1961, at the White Nursing Home where she had been ill for two years, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 23 days. She was the daughter of Parkison and Sarah Jane Williams.
She was married to T. J. McGinnis in 1895 and spent the greater part of her life in this community. To this union four children were born: John of Chariton, Ethel Haines of Pompano Beach, Fla., Audrey Corbett of San Diego, Calif., and Ralph, deceased.
She leaves to mourn besides her children: five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four brothers: Sam, Charles E. and Arthur Williams of Chariton, and Elbert Williams of Russell; two sisters: Mrs. Salene Berger of Chariton and Mrs. Hattie Layton of Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Ralph, four sisters and one grandson.
Early in life Mrs. McGinnis united with the First Baptist church of Sharon.
She was a faithful worker in the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president for several years, was Past Noble Grand of the Chariton Rebekah Lodge and an active member in the Daughters of Union Veterans. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Beardsley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bauserman officiating. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery. Pall bearers were Seasel Conner, Peoria, Ill.; Lloyd Conner, Ottumwa; Ray Ryan, Des Moines; Sterling Wilson, Centerville; Ernest Williams, Lowell; and Gerry Williams, Springfield, Ill., nephews of the Mrs. McGinnis.
