Mrs. Sarah E. Stirman had been in county over seventy years.
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Stirman, 92 years of age and the oldest inhabitant of Henderson county, passed away Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs. W.T. Green, on East Corsicana Street. Funeral services were held from the Green home this morning by Rev. G.W. Davis, pastor of the Christian church, of which deceased was a member. Mrs. Stirman had been indisposed for a week and her death was due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. Stirman was not only the oldest inhabitant of Henderson county, but had been in the county a greater number of years than any other resident now living. With her late husband she was among the pioneers that blazed the trail to this country and for seventy odd years she had made her home here.
She was born in North Carolina October 25, 1830. At ten years of age she moved with her parents to Tennessee and in the forties she came to Texas and settled in Lamar county. It was in Lamar county that she married and shortly afterward came to Henderson county. Her husband died in 1918 at the age of 93.
The following children survive her: Mrs. W.T. Green, Mrs. J.S. Green, M.F. Stirman and V.I. Stirman.
