for the following information:

Corporal Ralph E. Armstrong, 27, Hagerstown, Md., was included in a list of soldiers who have died in Japanese prison camps since the fall of Bataan and Corregidor, announced by the War Department Monday. (June 21, 1943)

His name appeared on a list from the Asiatic area, mostly at the Mukden Prison Camp, where more than 300 American soldiers were reported dead. Disease was given as the cause of death in each instance. Earlier, Japanese sources had reported the deaths from battle wounds. The 300 deaths from disease are part of a total of 11,307 soldiers so far reported as Japanese prisoners of war.

Corporal Armstrong, the son of Mrs. Grace Brumwell of Pasadena, Md., enlisted in the Army three years ago. Before his military service, he was employed by the Western Maryland Railway Company.
