A devoted mother and wife, she joined the Lord on Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was 75. She is survived by George Bourgeois, her husband of 46 years, a retired judge; a daughter, Kathleen Virginia Bourgeois Benelli, wife of Gordon Benelli, residents of Pottstown, Pa.; a son, Charles Thomas Bourgeois, husband of Sang Lee Bourgeois, residents of Vienna, Va.; and a daughter, Denise Louise Bourgeois Haley, Esq., wife of Joseph Haley, residents of Orange County, Calif. Aba's younger son, Jean Rene Bourgeois, predeceased her at the age of 3. Aba was born Oct. 13, 1926, on a farm near the rural community of Bayou Current, St. Landry Parish, the 11th of 15 children of her father, Joseph Dalecour Frame, and her mother, Eugenie Bertrand Frame, both deceased. Louisiana was her home for most of her life. She moved to McLean, Va., in 1970, and to California with her family in 1980. She and her husband, George, made Santa Barbara their home since 1985. Aba obtained an associate of arts degree from West Los Angeles College in 1984. She served as an active member of St. Barbara Parish as a Eucharistic minister at Mass and ministering to the sick, as well as becoming a professed Third Order Secular Franciscan several years ago. Seven of her older sisters, two of her older brothers, one of whom was legally adopted, and one of her younger brothers, predeceased her. One older sister, Florence Frame Hawkins of St. Landry Parish, survives her as do two younger sisters, Lana Frame Melancon, wife of Rev. Mr. Roy Melancon, retired, residents of Lafayette Parish, and Rachel Mae Frame Harney, wife of Larry Harney, residents of Staunton, Ky. Aba is also survived by her most dear younger brother, Dalecour Thomas Frame, a resident of Monterey County, Calif., who remained with her and her family during the last weeks of her illness. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, David, Brianne and James Benelli; Michael, Ana, Lexi and Thomas Bourgeois, and Christopher and Bridget Haley; and numerous degrees of nieces and nep
hews, far too many to mention, all of whom, always dear to her. She gave her life to and for her family and God and, despite great suffering, lived her life in the light and framework of God's plan for her. She was a kind, thoughtful and loving soul. We rejoice with heaven in welcoming her. A beautiful soul, this sainted secular Franciscan will be dearly missed. Visitation will take place on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m., at McDermott Crockett Mortuary, Santa Barbara.
