Waseca County Herald, Jan. 31, 1890
Mr. Fred Beese, a much respected man and follower of our Saviour, living in Deerfield, Steele County, died Tuesday noon, of pneumonia and inflammation of the brain, which were brought on by influenza. He was taken sick a week ago last Saturday. When it was known that he could not live, his friends and near relations went to work to write up his will, but before this could be fully done, Mr. Beese was so far gone as to be unable to sign the same. He was about 51 years of age, and leaves a good property. He was a brother-in-law of Mr. A. Zimmer, of Waseca, and father-in-law of Mr. Fred. Mahler, of Woodville. Mr. and Mrs. Beese have lived in Deerfield for about 23 years. They have had a family of 12 children, of whom seven have died and two are married, living not far away, and three are left at home. Mr. Beese has one brother living in Blooming Grove. He has many relations and a large circle of friends who mourn his sudden departure and sympathize with the bereaved widow and children. Mr. Beese was a kind and loving husband and father and a peaceable neighbor whom all respected. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock.
