James Andrew Arnold was the son of Nathaniel and Minerva Jane (Ramsey) Arnold. He was the husband of Rosa Ellen Roasezella (Inabnitt) Arnold.

Mr. Arnold and his son Harland were killed by Joseph Robert Norton son-in-law of James and husband of Laura Bell Arnold.
