FUNERAL SERVICES FOR GUS K. JONES SUNDAY
The funeral of Gus K. Jones, of Little Rock was held here Sunday afternoon from the residence of Mrs. Jones' mother, Mrs. J.R. Neelly. The services were conducted by Rev. R.B. Willis, assisted by Rev. S.W. Davie and Rev. N.M. Ragland. Anthems were sung by the choir of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery. A wealth of floral tributes were sent to the Neelly home.
The deceased was born in Columbus, Kansas, April 26, 1875 and had resided in Little Rock for the past eighteen years. On February 6, 1906 he was married to Miss Bess Neelly of this city who survives him. To this union two children were born. Misses Charlotte and Bessie Neelly who also survive. Others who survive the deceased are Gus K. Jr., a son by a former marriage, his mother, Mrs. Hettie Jones, of Little Rock, and two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Cramer of Little Rock and Mrs. J.F. Rutherford of Pine Bluff.
Mr. Jones was a successful lumber dealer and hard wood manufacturer during his business career but was forced to retire from active life about two years ago on account failing health. He enjoyed a host of friends over the state who mourn his death.
Mr. Jones died at Little Rock at 10:00 o'clock Friday evening, October 8th. Services were held there at the home of his sister, Mrs. Cramer, where death came after which the remains were shipped to Fayetteville for burial.
In addition to Fayetteville friends of the bereaved family who attended the funeral here: Mrs. Cramer, Mrs Rutherford, Gus K. Jones, Jr., J.A. Allen of Nashville, Arkansas, nephew of the deceased and Neelly of Okmulgee were present.
The pallbearers were W.W. Chapman, Ralph Taylor, I. R. Smith, J.Fay Reed, C.T. Lambert, Elzie Davies, Dr. B.F.McAllister and Allan Gates.
A short funeral service was also said at the grave by the local lodge of Elks of which Mr. Jones was a member.
