He graduated from Roby High School in 1942, and was a U. S. Air Corp Veteran of World War II.
Ashley married Wanda Bandy on November 8, 1955, in Midland, and moved to Anson in 1980.
He worked for M System grocery store for 20 years, and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Burns of Anson; 2 sons and daughters in law John and Rhonda Norfleet and Robbie and Peggy Burns, all of California; 3 daughters and two sons in law - Shirley Self of Tioga, Barbara and Roy Dragoo, and Vickie and Robert Nault, all of Anson; one brother Freeman Burns of Arlington; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
