Anne P. Burns, age 75 of Milford, formerly New London, and beloved wife and high school sweetheart to Donald Burns, passed away peacefully on January 16th at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 16, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John and Nora Cunnane Flaherty. An alumni of Mitchell College, Anne worked at the college after graduation. She was a professional typist while raising her six children, and prior to her retirement, she worked as a Manager at Showcase Cinemas in Orange for over 35 years. Anne was a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross and for the Beth El Soup Kitchen in Milford. She was an avid Yankee and UCONN Husky fan, loved to travel and was an enthusiastic bridge player. In addition to her husband Don of 53 years, she is survived by her children Kevin Burns and his wife Camille of Florida, Kathleen Thomson and her husband Douglas of Massachusetts, Kerry Tuozzola and her husband Joseph of Milford, Kristin Burns, Kenneth Burns and his wife Amy all of Orange and Kyle Burns and his wife Keri of Maryland. Also twelve grandchildren, Patricia, Daniel, Shestin, Zachary, Nicholas, Lucas, Taylor, Dennis, Madison, Ryan, Brody and Alexandra, two sisters Mary Zita Smith and husband Robert, Joan Johanson and husband Robert, and brother John Flaherty and wife Karen, and many loving nieces and nephews. Anne is predeceased by her brother Robert Flaherty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 20th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Agnes R. C. Church, 400 Merwin Ave, Milford, CT. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Milford. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 19th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford, CT.
