Crystal died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at home, surrounded by her family, at the age of 21. Though she had cerebral palsy and couldn't speak or walk, Crystal communicated more with her smile than any amount of words could ever say. In fact, she was known for her smile and great joy. With all of the challenges that she faced, she had every right to be discouraged, however, she chose to brighten the day of everyone she came in contact with. She loved, and was loved, by all of her family, but had a very special bond with her grandparents, Carl and Mary French.
Crystal is survived by her parents, Tommy and Carla Tompkins of East End; brother and sister, Billy and Sonya Tompkins of East End; maternal great grandmothers, Juanita French of Delhi, Louisiana and Veda Hanson of Camden; paternal grandparents, Dulan and Doris Tompkins of Sheridan; maternal grandparents, Carl and Mary French of East End; Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation: 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
All who knew and loved Crystal rejoice in knowing that she no longer faces any physical limitations and the first steps she ever took were into the waiting arms of Jesus and she's running and playing all over Heaven today and forever.
