Kent State University Shooting Victim. He was protesting the war in Vietnam when he was shot and killed by Ohio National Guardsmen called to his campus at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Several months before his death, he had transferred from Michigan State University to Kent State University. After his death, his high school in Plainview-Bethpage, Long Island, New York erected a memorial to him.
