D. W. "Buck" Hamilton, 85, of Sweetwater passed away on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at Snyder Oaks Nursing Home in Snyder, Texas.

He was born on July 24, 1925 in Shep, Taylor County, Texas. He married Vera Paveluk on September 3, 1977 in Sweetwater and they made their home at Lake Sweetwater.

Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Hamilton of Lake Sweetwater; son Gary Hamilton and wife Gail, of West Monroe, Louisiana, three grandsons, three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

"Buck" was a life-long resident of Nolan County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp., during W.W. II. He owned and operated Ray's Drive In for five years and the Dairyland Drive In for fifteen years. He later went into the cattle ranching for fifteen years. He loved going to and watching horse racing and football. He also loved country and western dancing.

Military graveside services will be on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at Slater's Chapel Cemetery in Nolan, Texas at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Slater's Chapel, also in Nolan, Texas with Rev. Keith Clower officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
