Katherine McDougald Ferguson Fuller was born in Russell (now Lee) County, Alabama to Daniel A. McDougald Ferguson and Sarah C. Flake. Her father "Mack" died in 1870 and Kate and her sister, Ada Belle Ferguson, were raised by their mother with her maternal and paternal relatives living nearby.
United in marriage to Robert Fuller about 1888 they had two sons, Robert Walter Fuller, Jr., born 1887 and died 1900 and McDougald Ferguson Fuller, born 12 March 1889 in Salem, Alabama.
