HANCEVILLE- Funeral services for Vanessa Laine Watts, 51, of Hanceville will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastors John Jankens, Warren Ruland and David McMinn officiating, with interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Watts died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at her home. She was born Jan. 1, 1959 in Waco, TX. She served as band director at Good Hope High School from 1982-2005. During her tenure the Raider Band program grew into one of the most respected band organizations in the state. Her dedication to her students and her profession are known across the state of Alabama and beyond.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Patricia Thornton Middleton.

She is survived by her husband, Neal Watts, daughter, Avery Laine Watts; 2 stepdaughters, Jamie Marie Hamilton and Karla Jean (Josh) Wynn; brother, Art Middleton; 2 sisters, Valerie (Byron) Adams and Vicki (Kyle) McManus; 4 grandchildren, Devon Wallace, Ace Hamilton, Layne Hamilton and Lola Wynn; brother-in-law, Tony Watts and a sister-in-law, Susan Watts.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Vanessa Watts Memorial Fund at Trinity Luthern Church, Hanceville, AL.
