Mrs. Bettie N. Bird, 70, died Friday morning at her home in Wyoming street She was born at John's creek in Craig county, Va., and went to Roane county at the age of five years with her parents, the late Nelson G. Steele and Helen Hutchinson Steele. Mrs. Bird is survived by six daughter, Miss Dorothea C. Bird, Mrs. S. W. Curtis and Mrs. Helen Rolling of Charleston, Mrs. Herbert C. Young of Parkersburg, Mrs. John L. Mahan of Columbus, O., and Mrs. Robert L. Wilkinson of Aurora, Ill.; six sons, Robert L. Bird of Charleston, John G. Bird of Mt. Vernon O., William C. Bird, Lonnie L. Bird, Howard E. Bird and Clarence Bird of Clendenin; one sister. Mrs. A. L. Reed of Walton; three brothers, J. Frank Steele of Charleston, W. D C. Steele of Kester and Samuel E. Steele of Spencer; also a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the First Advent Christian church in Randolph street. Services will be in charge of the Rev. J. F. Whitman, pastor of the church. Burial will be in the cemetery on the farm of John H. Board, three miles north of Clendenin. Mrs. Bird's children, all of whom survive her, are to be present at the funeral service. The body will lie in state from 12:30 o'clock until time of the funeral Sunday.
