1938 - 2011
William Mearl Adams - age 72 of Lenore, WV., formerly of Delbarton, WV., passed away Sunday; January 16, 2011, at his residence following a lingering illness.
Born June 23, 1938, in Logan County, WV., he was the son of the late William Charles Adams and the late Ersha Curry Powell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Stella Mae Adams, and one son, Timmy Keith Nichols.
He was a former mechanic, a 35 year member and chaplain with the Delbarton Volunteer Fire Department, former volunteer chaplain at the Williamson Memorial Hospital, and a veteran having served in the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He was of the Church of God faith, an ordained exhorter of the Nolan Church of God Acts 20:28; and he was an elected elder of the Prophetic Ministries of Logan, WV, and he was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include, three sons, William Gregory Adams of Madison, WV., Stevie Adams of South Williamson, Ky., and Terry Nichols of Cleveland, TN., five daughters, Kimberly Sartin of Lenore, WV., Drema Mosley of Lenore, WV., Mariam "Porky" Lester of Delbarton, WV., Rita Adams of Canada, Ky., and Sheila Nichols-Hall of Columbus, Ohio, three brothers, Charles Vinson of Omar, WV., Ricky Adams of Logan, WV., and Larry Powell of Dayton, Ohio, three sisters, Connie Adams of Rossmore, WV., Tammy Kripp of Logan, WV., and Edna Adams of Logan, WV., fourteen grandchildren, including a special granddaughter Regina England of Delbarton, WV., fourteen great-grandchildren, and his special caregivers, Jennifer Columbia and Ethel Spradlin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011, from the Victory Christian Center at Lenore, WV., with Terry Blankenship and Madison Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Pecks Mill, WV., with military honors by the DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, Ky.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Victory Christian Center with special services at 7 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be members of the Delbarton Volunteer Fire Department and honorary pallbearer will be Lee Sartin.
