Phillip Burleson, 78, of Spruce Pine passed away Sunday January 16, 2011 in Mission Hospital in Asheville. A native of Mitchell County he was a son of the late Steve and Myrtle Silvers Burleson and was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Lucille Taylor Burleson, a son; Allen Burleson and a brother; Carl Burleson.
Survivors include two sons; Michael Burleson and wife Diane of Spruce Pine and Ray Burleson and wife Deborah also of Spruce Pine, a daughter; Amanda Woody of Spruce Pine, a sister; Hazel Adyellete of Greensboro, NC and a brother; Danny Burleson of Banner Elk. He is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Burleson will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday January 19, 2011 in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
