Von D. Ballard, 91, Rt. 1, Converse, died Tuesday at the Turtle Creek Nursing Home in Kokomo. He had been ill for one month.
The son of William and Ella Powell Ballard, he was born in Howard County, Nov. 27, 1884. On Dec. 28, 1904, he was married to Maude Graf who survives.
He was a retired farmer and had lived his lifetime in the Converse-Amboy community. He was a member of the Amboy Friends Church.
Also surviving are two children, Esther Shockley, Rt. 2, Greentown, and Glen Ballard, Rt. 1, Converse; a sister, Dessa Larrison, Rt. 1, Converse; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. One daughter, Florence, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Laird and Son Funeral Home, Amboy. The Rev. John Powell will conduct the service and burial will be in the Converse IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.
