Sacramento Bee, Wednesday, March 3, 1948, pg 11 col 1: Chico War Dead Will Be Buried Next Weekend. Chico (Butte Co.), March 3 – Four of Chico’s returned war dead – Staff Sergeant Gordon C. Johnson, Private First Class Harold C. Fisher, First Sergeant Earl L. Watson and Private First Class Floyd Morris Meinberg – will be buried in the Chico Cemetery Friday and Saturday.
Sergeant Johnson, the son of Mrs. Ethyl Johnson of Chico, will be buried Friday at 3 P.M. after services in the Huddleston Funeral Chapel under the direction of Chico Post No. 17, American Legion, with Rev. L.G. Morony, post chaplain officiating. A sister, Mrs. Dorothy Glover, also of Chico, survives. He was a tail gunner on a B24 bomber when killed.
Interment on March 3, 1948, per Chico Cemetery Association Records.
