Fred King went home to be with his Lord and Savior leaving behind his wife, sons, daughter in laws and grandchildren, and many family members. He was a kind and gentle man who left loving memories in the hearts of anyone he met and will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him so much. He was a hard working man and loved his Lord, enjoyed painting, doing woodwork and more than anything just spending time with his family. If anyone needed anything he would be the first to help them, often meeting a need that the person didn't realize he knew anything about.

Frederick 'Fred' 'Jerry' D King Jr. age 77 of McKean Township died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Golden Living Walnut Creek. He was born on November 8, 1933 in Big Run, Pa., the son of the late Frederick D., Sr. and Vera Kilmer King. He was employed at Copes Vulcan for over forty-three years until his retirement in 1995. He was a Mason and a member of the Church of God, but attended Sterrettania Alliance Church. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, and was an amateur geneticist. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years.

A friend of the family shared with me that when she was a teenager, Fred's sister Liddie Anderson, was her Sunday School teacher, Liddie had cancer and was dying. Liddie got up in church one Sunday morning and told all the young people there that they should make sure to turn their lives over to God. This friend of the family said that she will never forget how Liddie could barely stand but she pleaded with everyone to make sure they were right with God and that the young folks should give God control over their lives. Liddie was so weak she couldn't walk, Jerry walked up there, scooped her up in his big strong arms and he carried her. He fought back the tears the whole time. He was a big BIG man, with a heart to match. So gentle and kind. He was a wonderful person!!
