Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Allen will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015, at 10:30a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment will follow the services at Dew Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at the Teague Nursing Home.
She was born on October 3, 1923, and was a lifelong resident of Freestone County. Mrs. Allen worked in food service for the Teague General Hospital and later in the cafeterias of all of Teague ISD campuses for many years. She was a very good cook and loved serving meals to her family. Mrs. Allen enjoyed sewing and quilting and volunteering at the Lord’s Community Storehouse. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Teague. She is survived by three sons, Doyle David Allen & wife Lorraine of Streetman, Kenneth Allen & wife Celinda, and Glenn Allen & wife Vicki all of Teague; two daughters, Catherine Beldin & husband Jackie of Wortham, and Diane Campbell & husband Sonny of Teague; thirteen granddaughters, Dana Juden, Julie Allen, Monica Allison, Melissa McLerran, Melinda Parson, Becky Hall, Jennifer Woodall, Crissy Thornbrough, Lisa Escobar, Misty Smith, Miranda Collins, Jessica Scruggs, and Kala Allen; twenty seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Allen; three sisters, and two brothers.
