Author. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was a career US Army officer who wrote many books regarding US Military history and counterinsurgency. During World War II, he served as a Colonel on General Douglas MacArthur's staff and texted many notes on guerrilla warfare in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he established a school of military history in Korea and also was involved in various US Government projects. He died at age 74 in Washington, D.C.
