Bruce was born in Cook County, IL, on July 6, 1959 to Louis Gillinger and Mildred (Brock). At the age of 11 Bruce was adopted by his step-father, Bill Pitt. In 1982 Bruce and his family moved to Phoenix, AZ.

I met him though my brother, Paul, who lived next door to his family. We began dating in 1986 and were married in 1990. Our son, Bruce II, was born in 1991 and was 11 years old when his father died on April 15th, 2002.

Bruce made a good impact on people's lives. There were a lot of elderly people who lived in our townhome unit and he helped each and everyone of them. He would install ceiling fans, clear clogged drains, fix or repair whatever was needed.

He would run errands for his grandparents who lived in Scottsdale (even if it just was buying a loaf of bread). He had a good heart.

At the time of his death, Bruce was survived by his father Louis Gillinger, his brothers Ray, James, Dennis and John and his sisters Rinda and Yvonne.

Bruce is also survived by his son Jonathan from his first marriage. He is missed by relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his sister Geneva and his Mother, Mildred. He loved his Mother dearly, when she passed away on October 29, 1990; a piece of him went with her.
