Sister Dorothy Theresa Zimmerer, age 99, a Sister of Divine Providence, entered eternal life on January 19, 2010. She was born in Lindsay, Texas on November 28, 1910 and became a Sister of Divine Providence at 20 years of age.

Sister Dorothy Theresa began her ministerial life at St. Edward's School in Texarkana, Arkansas in 1930. Devoting her ministry to education, Sister Dorothy Theresa taught at schools in Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, and Texas. Sister always looked forward to the annual "Homecoming" when the Sisters of Divine Providence would return home from their ministries to spend time praying, visiting, meeting, and recreating together.

One of Sister Dorothy Theresa's all time loves was tatting and she always ensured that her nieces and nephews were gifted with her creations. In 1998, Sister Dorothy Theresa retired to Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center.

Sister Dorothy Theresa is preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius and Helena Kubis Zimmerer, and her brothers, Rev. Francis, Henry, Paul, Bruno, Vincent, and Leonard Zimmerer.

She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Frances, Dorothy, and LuElla Zimmerer, numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous grand nieces and grand nephews.

The Rosary will be on Friday, January 22 at 4:30 p.m. The Wake and Mass of Resurrection will be held Saturday, January 23 at 1:30 p.m. All services will be in Annunciation Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center.
