B-24J #42-73305 'Rose of Juarez' 308th Bomb Group, 375th Bomb Squadron, crashed at the end of the runway at Chengkung upon takeoff on a bombing mission 13 July 1944. The four that were KIA were Pilot 2nd Lt Troy H McCubbin, CoPilot 2nd Lt James J Rutledge, Navigator 2nd Lt Albert O Ades, and Engineer SSgt Donald J Sellhorst. The four that were injured severely were Bombardier 2nd Lt Thomas E Cannon, Radio Operator SSgt Joseph L "Leo" Melanson, Armorer Sgt Robert R "Tex" Kuntz, and Gunner Sgt Roland Sering.
