DR. HIRAM CORSON HAS PASSED AWAY
DR. HIRAM CORSON, who was probably the oldest practicing physician in the country, died yesterday morning, at his home, near Conshohocken, Montgomery county. He was 92 years old and had been practicing medicine since 1828.
At the advanced age of 92 years, Dr. Hiram Corson, one of he most conspicuous figures in Eastern Pennsylvania medical circles, and who, until compelled by the ravages of time to abandon his profession a year ago, could justly lay claim to being the oldest practicing physician in the United States, died early this morning at his residence, "Maple Hill," Plymouth Meting, just above this borough. His death was due to the general breaking down of the system incident to old age.
Dr. Corson was the father of nine children,. four sons and five daughters. Those surviving are Joseph K. Corson, of the United States Army; Tacie Foulke, wife of William L. Cresson, of Norristown, Susan F., wife of Jawood Lukens of Conshohocken; Bertha, wife of James Yocum, of Philadelphia; Frances Stockton, wife of Richard Day of Philadelphia, and Mary Corson, who remained at home.
The remains of Dr. Corson will probably reside in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, beside those of his wife, who died in 1887."
