Services for Patti McMahon, 57, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 209 E. South St., with Dr. Rick Webb and the Rev. Kip Salser officiating, under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosewood Park. She passed away Friday, January 14, 2011.
Patti was born July 31, 1953, in Hamilton, Texas, to Wilbert William and Nancy Fay Pruitt Schrank. She was a longtime resident of Longview and a member of the First Baptist Church of Longview.
Patti was always involved in the children and youth activities as her children grew up in the church. She taught Sunday school when her children were younger and helped guide the youth ministry at Northwood Baptist, a mission of FBC, when the children were teenagers. Patti was a caring friend who volunteered to escort residents who needed assistance to Bible study at Westminster Place.
Patti was an avid reader who loved books. She began as a volunteer with the Longview Public Library, later moving to a part-time then a full-time position.
Left to cherish Patti's memory are her husband, Mark McMahon of Longview; her children, William Cullen McMahon of Oklahoma City, Okla., Elizabeth Lauren McMahon of Washington, D.C., Samantha Jane McMahon of Arlington, Va., Whitney Eleanor McMahon of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Amy Katherine McMahon of Longview; parents, Bert and Fay Schrank; sisters, Suzanne Jarvis and Betsy Lynn Marwitz, all of Hamilton, Texas; mother-in-law, Barbara McMahon of Henderson; sister-in-law, Martha Bailey of Fredericksburg, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
