Leon M. Thompson, a native of Bath and prominent musician died late Tuesday morning at his residence, 105 Howell St. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Thompson had suffered a stroke about seven weeks ago and was admitted to Bath Memorial Hospital in serious condition. He had returned home about four weeks ago.
One of Bath's best known musicians, he launched his career in 1897 when he became a member of the Soldiers' Home Band then under the leadership of the late George W. Sutton.
He is survived by his wife Edith Snyder Thompson, Bath two sisters, Mrs, Jay Brundage Hammondsport, and Mrs. Manley Bennett.
